The following is the article from the site:
Robert Pattinson to Play Jack Sparrow’s Brother in Pirates of the Caribbean 4
Rumors are flying that the sexiest vampire in town is set to replace Russell Brand in the next installment of the “Pirates of the Caribbean” films.
“Pirates of the Caribbean 4” is still in the planning process. Quite rumblings have been going on since the success of the trilogy. Johnny Depp has already expressed his desire to return to his beloved pirate character, Captian Jack Sparrow. Geoffrey Rush, Captain Barbossa, and Gore Verbinski, director, have also pledged their alliance to another “Pirates” installment. However, don’t be looking for Orlando Bloom to renew his role as Will Turner. Keira Knightley will also be forgotten in the new film. The plot is due to center solely around Jack Sparrow according to My Park Mag UK. Several scenarios are still being thrown around. The latest is and addition to the Sparrow family tree. Jack will get a brother.
Russell Brand was said to be in the running along with Zac Efron, but after Brand perturbed in the Disney kingdom by slamming the Jonas Brothers and their dedication to chastity…he is due to be replaced. Current front runner is the new hotness, Robert Pattinson. With his massive and still growing fan base, Disney wants his appeal to ensure the success of another pirate movie. Fingers are crossed for a 2011 start date.
Sign me up. Who doesn’t have Johnny Depp pirate fantasies? Don’t pretend like you don’t want to have his dirty pirate babies. Add R.Patz to the fantasy….wet naps will be handed out at the ticket booth.
So what do you guys think? Will Robert play a good pirate?
Including the replacement of Tyler Lautner and will Ben Barnes play Aro?
Variety.com also states some competition that New Moon might have.
"Also slated to open on Nov. 20, 2009, are Warners' "Sherlock Holmes," Sony toon "Planet 51" and MGM's untitled "Three Stooges" project."

Larry posted an article in MTV Movies Blog about Chris Weitz and his success as the new director. Also, they talk about the release of the movie synopsis and so far it isn't looking good for Taylor. The Official New Moon Synopsis:
“In ‘New Moon,’ Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) is devastated by the abrupt departure of her vampire love, Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson) but her spirit is rekindled by her growing friendship with the irresistible Jacob Black. Suddenly she finds herself drawn into the world of the werewolves, ancestral enemies of the vampires, and finds her loyalties tested. Production on ‘New Moon’ is scheduled to begin in the coming months and the studio is planning to release the film towards the end of 2009 or early 2010.”
See anybody's name missing?

According to EW.com, Summit: Also, the article states:

Deadline Hollywood Daily had this to say about the offer Summit gave Chris Weitz to direct New Moon. "Yes, he's had tremendous success working with tweens and teens (About A Boy as director and writer, American Pie as producer and uncredited director). But Chris Weitz also did The Golden Compass
(as writer and director), and my source says Summit Entertainment liked
the look of that even if it didn't heat up the domestic box office (but
did better overseas). I don't have official confirmation yet that this Twilight
sequel offer has gone out to Weitz. But my insider says another reason
it came down is because Weitz and Summit's president of production Eric
Feig are longtime pals. The source tells me Weitz is "still
considering" the offer to helm New Moon and possibly also Eclipse
if the sequel and threequel movie adaptations of Stephenie Meyer's
series of vampire books are made back-to-back. But let's also not
forget Weitz's behavior on Golden Compass. On December 15,
2004, Weitz announced his resignation as director of the trilogy,
citing the enormous technical challenges of the epic and later
admitting he was worried about dissing by the book's fans. After
another helmer came on and then walked off, Weitz returned to direct
saying he'd done "a lot of growing in the interim". Despite all
that, Summit seems willing to put its first valuable franchise in his
hands. Not so with Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke who's off the sequel for a whole host of reasons I reported that fall under the "difficult" category. Sexism, anyone?"
